New to the forums, looks like a nice place, lots of great info!

I have an 04 650 Classic, and have a big problem on my hands here.

The drive shaft, and rear pinion gear are completely stripped, and I dont want to drop a grand into new parts right now. The local shop informs me that they cant buy just the pinion gear that attaches to the drive shaft, you have to buy the whole rear assembly.

Im wondering if a rear assembly from an 1100 would work on my 650 Classic.

I have already scoured the classifieds, no luck though.

Just trying to find a way to fix my daily rider on a budget right now, things are tight.

Thanks for any response!

Check on E-Bay, sometimes you can find one from a 750 Virago.

I just went through the same issue with mine. There is a guy who has been selling refurbished final drives for the 650 for $275. I got lucky and found a good used one for $200. The 1100 unit will NOT work, but as per the 650ccnd site, the Virago one will. I have seen them sell for as little at $25

Keep us posted and I hope you have a speedy recovery!
