30 years ago when I wrenched on bikes for a living I used a mercury manometer and it was common practice to sync your carbs somewhere above idle... 1500-2000 rpm. Thinking was.. that was where your motor ran most of the time. On my Vstar 1100 the vacuum becomes awful imbalanced above idle with the front cylinder drawing a lot more vacuum than the rear. I don't remember seeing this way back when. Might be because the mercury, being so heavy, wasn't as sensitive and didn't show the imbalance as much as other fluids. Has anyone else experienced this? I'm using the 2 bottle method with water. Worked way better than my home made u-guage manometer.

It just needs to be balanced at idle...950-1000 RPM.
