I drilled out the Welch plugs.i used a screw to pull the plugs out. The drill bits never touched the screws..I turned in the screws to get a base line,as I turned the screws back,it became harder to back them up,I ended up ripping the slot right off the back carb screw.
Now what do I do? Do I buy a new carb..
Damn 15 minute job turns into a Night mare.

Welcome from Houston, Texas. Must have been some corrosion in threads. I would soak with penetration oil, let sit, drink a coffee or two, then try to get some small needle nose pliers in there to grab screw turning it in and out to loosen corrosion. Here's a few interesting threads to check out when you get a chance.
