I washed and polished her up.
Then took her on nice little 135 mile putt.
Now I'm gonna build a fire outside and sit
and drink some wine. See ya'll,
Ride safe!

I rode in to work today. thats the 4th day in a row that the bike has been running like a champ. I passed 400 miles yesterday. I've put over 400 miles on the bike so far. Yea me! Hardly need any choke in the mornings, it's been great to hop on and just go. I should probably get gas on the way home...
A few nights ago I put some ebay brake lights on the hard saddle bags. They blink rapidly then settle down to just on when braking. It appears to work, I've noticed people are coming to a stop a reasonable distance away from me.
I did make a mistake by parking next to the other guy who rides.

In the garage, parked next to the sporty in my garage, the 650 seems huge. Out in reality, it's not so big really. This picture makes me laugh a little. But I haven't spent a medium sized fortune either. It gets me to work, holds lunch and makes a neat scraping sound when scooting around corners. It's easier to track stand than the Iron 883. I still can't do it but I'm much closer on the Yamaha. Plus, it doesnt send my spine shooting through my skull like the sporty does. I must be getting old...

There's an aftermarket light for Warriors with that effect. It's GREAT to have. When I'm sitting at a light, I keep my bike in gear and will press/release/press several times until the vehicle approaching from behind actually stops. I think it should be standard on all bikes.

THAT is addicting!! I scraped the back 10% of my floorboard off of my 650 floorboards before I changed bikes. I got a little too comfortable, though, and would occasionally scrape my floorboard mounts... that would cause me to slightly pick up my back tire and would start to slide on the metal. Never laid it down because of that but those were definitely some severe pucker moments.

The mirrors on the SVTC have always been too far inboard for me to see much of anything behind me. After many miles of craning my neck and head to get a glimpse of what was behind me (or asking my wife who gets a better view than I from back on the pillion) I thought I would try some small blind spot mirrors and see if they helped. At first glance I think I may have wasted the few dollars that I spent on them, but I'll give it a little longer test before abandoning all hope.

Hoping to maximize their utility I thought I would review the included instructions to get some manufacturer insights on best positioning practice. So, I flipped the blister pack over:

Oh well, take a wild guess and we'll see how things work out:

Sorry to hear this man. If you don’t mind me asking, why are you letting go of the bikes ?

edit: sorry, I see your last line says “sad times”. Sorry to hear of this. Hope everything turns around for you.

Terrible news... so sorry to hear.
Gettin' old (I'll be 70y/o in June), I've had pneumonia twice (2015 & 2021) that hammered my heart and I'm taking some industrial strength blood thinners daily. If I were to crash, I would bleed out before anybody got to me.
I bought my 1st scooter when I was 15 y/o and I've had at least one (sometimes several) ever since. Scooters have always been my escape pod, my safe space...the place that I could go to get away from everything else. If only temporarily, a scooter ride would always make all the B/S disappear. I've been extremely careful and extremely lucky. I've never crashed, so I figure that I'm way overdue.
So, Amigos, I'm selling my scooters to 2 close friends so I'll still be able to visit them occasionally. Sold my '00 RoadStar HotRod (for $1) to my 30y/o step-son 2 yrs ago. It's still in my Scooter Shed, but I'm gona give the shed to him (along with all my leathers and other gear). He'll have to have it moved to his back yard, but he lives right around the corner.
Closing this most favorite chapter of the story. I bought an '85 K5 Blazer that will be my new get-away. It'll never replace the 'Liner (my absolute favorite of all the scooters I've ever owned) or the Warrior (just too much fun !), but it'll have to do.
Adios...

I think I speak for most that I am sorry to hear all of this. Silver lining, you have had a an amazing 2 wheel career and recognized the right Time to call. A premature exit of 2 wheels beats the alternative. I am thankful you have your memories, so important. Be safe, and remember, this site doesn’t require you to be a rider to be a member. Stay around, we would appreciate your knowledge, experience and participation.

stay well my friend

Don't be afraid to stick around and hear stories like this one. Decided to finally get my 1100 out for the summer and had problems it wouldn't start. After charging battery and a couple of hours later i thought maybe turn the fuel line on. Worked pretty good after that.

I love a happy ending !...
Thanks for the bounce-backs.
One thing I've learned for sure...Yamaha People are real good people.
I'll still be checkin' in regularly just to keep up.
Go easy out there.
Enjoy the ride !!

Yes it is a group of great people, and you're one of them, so as mentioned it would be great to have you stick around. I say that for the RS Clinic site as well (and I'm sure other bike related sites you're on would agree).

The knowledge and experience you've had is valuable to all of us. All our knowledge combined is far better than just our own.
