I just changed my oil and filter for the first time, yes the filter sucks. I bought the wrong weight oil for my bike 10w-40 Lucas semi-synthetic Api meets or exceeds sg,sf ,cc,cd. My owners manual calls for 10w-30 or 20w-40 with Api of se,sf,sg or higher. Will I be ok with this oil. I thought I needed 10w-30 or 10w-40. Thanks Aaron

In warm weather what you got is a bit thin, I believe. You would be better off with 20-50. Runnin air cooled, I suggest going 20-50 in summer, just my thoughts:) Ride Safe.

20 w 50

Leatherman,

As Sugarbear said Yamaha now recomends 20 w 50 motorcycle oil. With no friction reducers. Probably no big deal, your not the first I'm sure. I would be careful about oil with fricton reducers. Long term they can lead to clutch slippage. I don't know about Lucas oil if it is OK or not.

Some reading.
