I have found the xv 1100 is a very easy engine to upgrade eg fit bigger carbs, bigger bores and fit ram air system. The position of major parts ate easy access able. The electrics need rewired with higher quality specs to enable proper tuning , bit when this is done you won't believe how much power you can generate from a simple power unit. Don't despair it can be done "costs a bit tho" DRIVE LIKE HELL , FEEL LIKE HEAVEN. Cheers

I'd agree that it's easy to upgrade, but past a certain point it becomes useless. The ratio of cost to power becomes increasingly larger and you'd be better off investing into a larger bike to begin with.

My bike is pretty much as far as I could ever recommend going. If I did anything else such as flat side carbs or a larger bore I'd be looking at thousands for only a few more hp gained.

Pipes and pods are great on these bikes, for a few hundred you can get a 15+ hp gain. Cams are good too, but you must beef up other areas of your bike so it can handle it. With that you're looking at around a thousand for another 10 or so gain. Putting the bike at around 80hp up from around 50hp stock.

Beyond that you're looking at 2-5 hp gains for thousands per mod. A wiser man might take his money and get a Stryker or something instead.

Just my opinion.
