XVS650 Classic - what years are compatible?

225 Views 3 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Yamaha Pat
Bought this '03 650 Classic the other day for my brother to ride. She runs great, but was most obviously laid down at some point in her life. 3 days of cleaning and polishing got her here, now we are keeping an eye out for parts bikes to replace some of the damaged pieces like signal lights, bar ends, etc. but the information I've found online isn't overly clear which years of bikes we should be looking at? Thanks for any insight, looking forward to learning more about this bike from this community!

Welcome, on the classic all years are compatible, with one exception, the connectors will be different from year to year. What they did is on some the have male plugs instead of female and vise versa. Like on the rear fender I just removed the wiring from the old fender and swap to the new fender. Also if you can solder just cut the old connectors off and use it on the new part. Everything else is interchangeable.

Thank you! I thought this was the case, but wanted to be sure. Electrician by trade, so the wiring won’t be an issue 😝
