Yamaha Passenger Backrest

Hi. Can I ask what might be or probably is a dumb question?

Is the three piece backrest that can be installed on the V-Star one that is detachable just by snapping it off or some other method? The reason I ask is that using a cover for the bike would be kind of difficult with that sissy bar sticking up. Thanks

It should't be hard to use if you have the right cover. I have 950 Tourer, I use a Dowco cruiser cover that as a zipper on the back half. It covers my bike almost down to the ground. Easy on, easy off too.
Thanks Sgt. Mike

Now I feel really dumb. Who would want a backrest that just snapped off? Too many thieves around for that!! :(

I'll look into getting the cover you mention, or one like it.

Thanks again........

I've got the Yamaha back rest and its a really solid bit of kit. It comes off easily, but its got lock. You get a set of keys with it - I keep the key under the seat.

Don't feel that way Rod, if you don't ask you don't know. Check it out in the below link. Lifetime warranty, and it is that because they sent me a new one after the zipper on the original failed, they now use a better zipper. Free shipping too.
