My guess is that your speed sensor is mounted on the what Yamaha calls the Transfer Case, and is sensing that ring of teeth depicted on what Yamaha calls the Middle Driven Shaft.

Update 11/15/2023: it’s all a big LIE! The schematics are wrong, it’s all BS! The speed sensor plug is UNDER THE SEAT! There is that bunch of wires/plugs wrapped up in that black wrap with Velcro…in there is the damn plug I needed to access!I'm not the guy you want helping you, I don't own a Stratoliner. The actual speed sensor does snap/plug into the engine case BUT the wiring routes up and into the area under the seat, and thus the speed sensor plug to access is right there.It's nice that you found the plug, but where is the part you asked about?
