Hello @DuddyMN91 and welcome form Virginia. Please go to the introduce yourself thread and tell us more about your bike past and present. And don't forget to show us your 1300.

I would not say there is a common fault per se, though several 1300 suffer from red death; i.e. dry front sprocket. Many have not been lubricated enough and rust takes over causing a costly repair. I do not own one myself and others can speak more on this. In general though, the 1300 will last longer than any of us if cared for well.

I had one and loved it. It got totaled a few weeks ago so it is no more. Having previously owned a 650, I too was surprised by how few there were and how little aftermarket support there was and had been. To me it was the best of the Vstar line. Handled well like a 650, but had more engine than the rest of the line, fuel injected, water cooled, just about perfect. I had wondered why it didn't appear to sell as well as the 1100.

I ended up with a Stratoliner to replace the 1300. Love them both.

Started in grade school with a Yamaha recorder flute thing. Then a Yamaha trumpet in high school. A decade later I got a 2006 roadstar. First sergeant wouldn’t let me get a smaller bike. It sat in the garage for just over a decade. Got it roadworthy last year with all the farkles I couldn’t afford before. It’s currently sidelined until I figure out the cracked passing light bar. Just a few months ago, a 2021 Xmax.

I've got an 2008. It's got a A&N air filter on mine and it pulls great.

That 250 is a great bike. Smallest V-twin I've ever seen.I wished my strat would get the fuel mileage that 250 gets.Hey if your having fun and it's on 2 wheels then you must be on a motorcycle.

Me too, the only gauge that moves as fast as the speedo is the gas gauge on a strat. But IT IS WHAT IT IS..LMAO

I bought a brand new VStar XVS650A Classic in Black as my first bike in 2007 - Learner Legal here in Australia. I loved riding that thing - commuted to work in Sydney for years. I had to sell it around 2011 and I've been bike-less for the last few years. Now my son recently bought himself a Yamaha XSR700 so of course I've had to go by myself an Vstar XVS1100A Classic in Candy Apple Red so I can go riding with him. I did a ton of research and looked at all bikes, but focussing on the HD Fat Boy and Triumphs, but kept coming back to the VStar Classic for it's value for money, looks, comfort, familiarity and reliability. Cannot wait to get back on the road when I pick it up in a couple of weeks. Stay safe

Well I've bought it remotely so it might be a different red. Only going off photos. Definitely a MY2009 from the paperwork though.

A friend crashed his 10 month old Honda 750 Hornet 12 days ago. Other than a smashed headlight and its nacelle, plus a ruined TFT screen/instrument, there was only minor scratches. Repair cost? 150% of a new bike !!!

Does it have the ghost flames?

They only had those for like 1 year

Candy Apple Red, Candy Apple Blue, and Midnight.

I cannot remember if the flames were custom only or custom and classic.
May have been custom only.

Was around short enough that people keep insisting that mine is a custom repaint.
People with Star bikes.

My yammy was used 07 V Star 650 under 6000 miles dressed in aftermarket parts as well as the stock parts thrown at me, the dual carb tool kit was added as well. So far I like what was done to it 14 inch ape hangers aftermarket exhaust I have put 53ish miles on it bringing the mileage to 6040
