I searched on the forum and on the internet and couldn't find correct, clear instructions for adding another smart-key so:
First of all, turn off the ORIGINAL smart key by holding the second silver button on the remote... this turns the smart key off.
Follow the instructions in the manual for Emergency start... push the main starting button once (Middle of the handle bars!) and then push the emergency button inside the right pannier, 3 times.
You'll then need the number from the ORIGINAL smart key.
Push the unlock button on the tank, holding it until the flashing icon flashes "spelling" out the ID number for your original key... Let go of the unlock button when the number of flashes matches the first number. Then hold again until the flashes meets the second number on your original key and so on.
When you have entered the numbers correctly in order, the orange emergency unlock light on the dash will stay lit. If it flashes fast you didn't enter the number correctly.
(Start again... pressing the main start button and the pannier button 3 times.)
You can now start to enter the program for the NEW smart key.
To do this, whilst the emergency light is lit (you have 10 seconds!), press the lock button then the unlock button on the tank... do this 3 times.
You will then see the small red light on the NEW remote is lit up... Press either button on the NEW remote until the bike responds.
You've now programmed the new remote.
If you want to use the other remote... push the second silver button on the remote for several seconds. This turns the remote off. To turn the other remote on, push the second silver button several times until the bike responds.
You cannot have both remotes operating at the same time.
One needs to be on, the other needs to be off!
